The Golden Persimmon (Kledung Mas)

Once upon a time, there lived a husband and a wife near a jungle. They had been married for many years, but they did not have a child yet. They really wanted for a child, so they always prayed to God every night.

One night, a giant passed their house and he heard their praying. The giant met them and said "I can give you a child, but you must return the child to me when she is 14 years old,". Then the giant gave them a bunch of persimmon seeds. The farmers were so happy. The farmers planted them carefully.

A few days later, they heard a baby cried from the big golden persimmon in their garden. They were so curious, so they cut it into half. They were very surprised to see beautiful girl inside the persimmon. Since then, they named her Kledung Mas or Golden persimmon.

Many years later, Kledung Mas grew into a beautiful girl. However, the parents were very sad. They remembered their promise to the giant, but they also did not want to lose their beloved daughter. So before the giant came, her father called Kledung Mas and said “"My daughter, take this magic bag with you if you are in danger, throw it."

Right after that, the giant came into their house. "Run Kledung Mas. Save your life!" said the mother. The giant was very angry, so he chased Kledung Mas. When he almost caught her, suddenly Kledung Mas remembered her father words. She then opened the bag and threw a bottle of mineral water. It became a river. The giant had to swim to cross the river.

Later, Kledung Mas threw a pair of chopsticks. It became a jungle with trees. The trees had sharp thorns, so they hurt the giant. However, the giant was still able to chase Kledung Mas. Then there was the last magic stuff she had in the bag. It was chocolate bar. She threw it and became a big swamp. The giant was still trying to swim the swamp, but he was very tired. Then he was drowned and screamed “help me… help me”. She felt sorry for him and immediately helped the giant out of the swamp.

The Giant miraculously changed into a handsome prince. Kledung mas was so surprised, the Prince explained that her kindness had broken the spell that was cast on him by a witch. They then immediately went home to meet her parents. The farmers were so happy. And then, Kledung Mas and the Prince were married and together they lived happily ever after.
